I’ve been meaning to get my post up for this theme for the last week, but with midterms and life in general getting in the way, this has become way overdue for the deadline. So Melissa, I’m really, really sorry about this. Hopefully it won’t ever happen again.
Anyways, this post is probably going to get a bit image-heavy as I try to redeem myself from the incredible lateness of this entry though the theme itself is pretty self-explanatory. The thing is, when I came up with the idea of ‘shallow’ as the theme, I had been drawing images of these women walking out from under the water all over my class notes. It began in the middle of biology and made its way into all my other notebooks. Basically, this is the image of what I’ve been doodling these past two weeks:
Anyways, ‘shallow’ to me meant water –shallow waters in humid summers. So when I started drawing something for this theme, I knew I had to somehow incorporate this image. What follows is basically my final depiction of this idea. I think I’ve exhausted the inspiration behind this in a good way; it’s like the idea has been finally realized.

Charcoal on paper (for once not on cardboard!), 16” x 20”
